Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 13, 2026
IPLookup is designed with your privacy in mind. This page explains how we handle your data when you use our IP lookup tool and website.
What Data We Collect
We collect minimal, anonymized usage data via Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site and improve the experience. Specifically:
- We do not store your IP address on our servers
- We do not have a database
- We do not log requests
- We use Google Analytics, which sets first-party cookies (
_ga,_gid,_gat) to collect anonymized traffic data (pages viewed, referral source, browser type, approximate location at city level) - We do not share personal data with third parties beyond what Google Analytics collects
How the IP Lookup Works
When you use our IP lookup tool, your browser makes a direct request to a third-party API (ipinfo.io) from your browser. The API returns information about your IP address, which is displayed to you on the page. This all happens in your browser — no data passes through our servers.
The third-party API (ipinfo.io) may collect data according to their own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing their privacy practices if you have concerns.
Data Storage
If you use the IP history feature, your IP address is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- ipinfo.io — For IP geolocation data (see their privacy policy)
- OpenStreetMap — For displaying the map (see their privacy policy)
- Google Analytics — For anonymized traffic analytics (see Google's Privacy Policy)
Cookies
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga, _gid, _gat) to distinguish unique users and throttle request rates. These cookies are anonymized and do not contain personally identifiable information. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
Advertisements
This website may display advertisements via Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant ads based on your browsing history. You can read more about Google's privacy practices at Google's Privacy Policy.
Your Rights
You have the right to opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the browser add-on linked above. Since we do not store personal data on our servers, there is nothing further to access, modify, or delete. If you have questions about privacy, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
